János M. Bak Research Fellowship on Medieval Central Europe
The János M. Bak Fellowship on Medieval Central Europe was established at Central European University in 2019 to celebrate János Bak’s 90th birthday. Students, colleagues, and friends of János Bak crowdfund it. A Board manages the administrative work. Emilia Jamroziak (University of Leeds) is the current chair.
Fellows
Until 2022, the fellowship included three months of a research grant for a young scholar in Budapest.

Since 2023 the fellowship offers grants to successful MA applicants researching medieval Central Europe at Central European University.
The recipients of 2023 are:
- Ahmet Demirel, The Ottoman-Habsburg encounter in the context of the Protestant Church Reformation
- Nicholas Tayler, Hungary, Lotharingia and the Walloons of the Eger Valley
